I can watch purchased movies on Google Play, which requires widevine. However, when looking at the CPU usage (~75%) and comparing to the situation previously I'd say there is no hardware acceleration with widevine. The video_decoder shown at media-internals is DecryptingVideoDecoder. When I view a video (at higher definition) on youtube I get ~15% CPU and the video_decoder is GpuVideoDecoder.

Does anybody known whether hardware acceleration should now be working with widevine?

Now that hardware acceleration does work without widevine, I am getting extra interested to know whether there are sites with (legally) provided movies without DRM/widevine....;-). Also I found that you can't log-in to Youtube with the beta. But if you were logged-in on the stable version before the update, it'll keep the login status.
What bothers me is, how do I find out when the HW acceleration feature is merged into DEV or stable branch? Can I track it somehow?
